Leash and Carrier Policy
Effective immediately, we do not allow the use of retractable leashes in the hospital or on hospital grounds. All pets must be leashed or in a carrier before entering the building.
Retractable leashes are very popular amongst pet owners for walking dogs and giving additional space and distance from the owner when in the right environment. These types of leashes are designed to give dogs the freedom to roam and explore, but this design can cause problems in enclosed spaces, situations where you cannot give your dog your full attention, or areas that are shared by other families with pets.
Using a retractable leash in a confined space such as a parking lot or inside a veterinary hospital can lead to injuries to people and their pets, some even fatal. Using a retractable leash may result in leashes being dropped resulting in the pet running off into potential danger or confrontation with other animals. The thin rope material can cause burns, cuts, falls, and entanglement. Our goal is to keep our clients and pets safe. If you arrive and do not have a leash or need a standard leash, please text or inquire at the front desk. We will provide you with one prior to exiting your vehicle and entering the building. We always keep extra leashes on hand for clients to use. If you need a cat carrier, we have extra carriers on hand for use and purchase. Please have all cats contained in a carrier prior to exiting your vehicle.
